Inspired by the construction of saunas and a Zen sensibility, this small bath in a midtown Manhattan condo was totally transformed. Keeping it simple, we looked to materials for the WOW factor.

Inspired by the construction of saunas and driven by the small footprint of this bath, I relied on materials for the WOW factor, including wood-look plank tiles on the walls.

Smaller "stone look" 3 inch tiles, picking up the wall color, visually enlarge this small bath. Accent bars were used to create a virtual bath mat, adding interest and defining the area in front of the sink.

To maintain the integrity of the wood look to the top and bottom of the walls while adding some interest and contrast, border tiles were used 4" from the floor and ceiling. This Crystal Mosaic pattern in a deep ocean hue from Crossville, with graduated rectangles, creates a wave-like visual which complements the simple, organic feel of the space.
